Privacy Notice

This website is operated by me, Scott Parker.

I am the data controller for any personal data collected in connection with this website and my services, and I operate in the UK.

You can contact me through my contact page

Your data, clear and simple

You can use this website without providing any personal data - but as design and strategy thrive on strong data based practices, it would be great to have your engagement.

You can choose to share personal data with me when you get in touch through my Contact Page, working with me on a project or event, or signing up to receive updates from me [or comment on any of my posts].

The personal data you provide will usually include your name, contact details and company name, as well as any information you include in your messages or share with me.

If we work together, any personal data I collect in the course of that work will also be used in accordance with this privacy notice.

I sometimes collect additional personal information about people who contact me from publicly available resources (for example, LinkedIn), to provide you with the most effective service.

My strategic use of your personal data

I will use the information you provide me primarily for the purpose you provided it for (i.e. to send you updates, or to work with you).

I will also use it for my own business purposes. These include:

  • contacting you if I have information or services which may be of interest to you, (unless you let me know that you do not want me to contact you)

  • record keeping and general business and career administration (including financial records an transactions)

  • creating forecasts, market analysis and market insight to support the development of my business.

Legal detail

The (UK) GDPR restricts the purposes that you can process personal data for - you can't just use it for anything.

I've explained in plain english above how and why I use your personal data, but this is how it aligns with the legal requirements:

Activity

Lawful basis

Responding to your contact

Consent
Taking steps in order to enter into or perform a contract with you

Sending you updates

Consent/Legitimate interests [please confirm]

Record Keeping

Legal obligation
Legitimate interests

All other purposes

Legitimate interests

Where my legal basis is "legitimate interests", this means that I am only using the personal data because it benefits you, me or someone else, and it doesn't cause an undue risk of harm to anyone.

For example, as well as sending you updates, I count how many people have signed up to it, and use that information to inform my next steps. This is a legitimate use of your information as it helps me to allocate business resources appropriately, and there is little or no risk of harm to you.

Your personal data rights

You can ask to exercise the following rights with regards to your personal data, but there are exceptions to when they will apply:

  • Withdraw your consent at which point your data will not longer be used for the purposes you consented to, although I will still maintain a record for administrative purposes

  • Access your personal data and to be provided with certain information in relation to it, such as the purpose for which it is processed, the recipients or categories of recipient to whom it is disclosed and the period for which it will be stored

  • Rectification of your personal data, where you can require me to correct any inaccuracies in your personal data without undue delay

  • Erasure of your personal data

  • Restriction of the processing of your personal data to limited purposes

  • Object to processing, or to any substantive decisions that I make based solely on automated processing of your personal data

  • Portability, although I do not currently offer any services to which this would be applicable.

You can find out more about your rights on the Information Commissioner's Website.

Who do we share your personal data with?

In general, I don't share your personal data with anyone unless we have told you that we are going to do so. This might be where you have asked for an introduction to someone in my network, or where I am partnering with a third party on an event.

I do use service providers to provide me with technology solutions (including Framer and Calendly), banking and other administrative services.

When you access Calendly or other external sites via this website, their privacy notices may also apply to their use of your personal data.

Will your personal data leave the UK?

Your personal data may be processed or stored in servers outside the UK by my service providers (for example Google Analytics or Calendly).

In these cases, your personal data will be protected by appropriate safeguards for that transfer (most commonly a data transfer agreement).

For further information or to obtain a copy of the appropriate safeguard for any of the transfers below, please contact us using the contact information provided above.

Contact

Please contact hello@scottparker.design if you have any questions about my use of your personal data, or if you would like to exercise any of your rights relating to personal data.

If you have any concerns about how I process your personal data, please let me know so I can try to resolve them.

If you're not happy with how I deal with this and you consider that I am in breach of my obligations under data protection laws, you are always entitled to submit a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office.
